Mr. Sodowsky received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1972. From 1972 through October 1994, he worked in the aircraft and personal computer industry as an engineer and engineering manager for a succession of companies: Boeing, NCR Corp., Datapoint Corp., and Zenith/Inteq. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University School of Law while working full-time at Zenith/Inteq as the Director of Engineering Services. Mr. Sodowsky studied patent law and is a member of the first class of graduates in GMUSL’s Patent Law Specialty Track.
Mr. Sodowsky opened his own practice in 1994 as a sole proprietorship. In December 2000, he formed the Law Office of Elden R. Sodowsky, PC, a professional corporation. From late 2001 through mid-2007, Mr. Sodowsky was a principal in the firm of Crosson & Sodowsky, PLLC. In July, 2007, the Law Office of Elden R. Sodowsky, PC was renamed the Sodowsky Law Firm, PC, which moved into its current location in November 2007.
So, Mr. Sodowsky brings a wide range of experiences from being an employee in a large organization to managing a staff of professionals to owning, operating and managing his own business. Mr. Sodowsky is admitted to practice before all courts in Virginia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and is a Registered Patent Attorney. Mr. Sodowsky is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Fairfax Bar Association, the Prince William County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers. Mr. Sodowsky also served three years on the Lawyer Referral and Information Service Committee of the Fairfax Bar Association. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors of Western Fairfax Christian Ministries, including one year as President of the Board.
Mr. Sodowsky has experience in both civil and criminal aspects of the law profession. Mr. Sodowsky’s civil practice included commercial litigation, collections, employment law, intellectual property law and business formation. Mr. Sodowsky’s criminal defense practice included representing persons charged with misdemeanor and felony charges, such as DUI/DWI, reckless driving, driving on suspended license, shoplifting, fraud, embezzlement, theft, marijuana possession, drug possession and distribution, and robbery.
Mr. Sodowsky now focuses his practice on helping businesses and individuals who have IRS tax problems, such as tax liens, unfiled tax returns, and payroll tax problems. He also continues his work of counseling and advising businesses in proper entity formation and in the maintenance of the liability protection afforded by proper business arrangements.
